A standoff between Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies and a pair of teens reportedly involved in a fight eventually came to an end, after more than five hours, early Saturday morning in Valencia.
The incident began shortly before midnight on the 25700 block of Covala Court after a 911 call.
“I think the original call was just two males arguing outside of that location,” said Sgt. Eric Treadway of the SCV Sheriff’s Station, in a phone interview Monday.
“They got into a fight outside, and basically, there were some allegations that there may have been some weapons involved,” he said, although the report did not indicate the recovery of any weapons or charges of that nature. “I think we were able to confirm that both suspects went back into the house and kind of barricaded themselves there. That’s about the gist of it.”
When deputies arrived at the scene, multiple suspects reportedly ran inside a nearby home, prompting a barricade situation, according to witness reports and footage of the incident.
Treadway said the report indicated both individuals were juveniles, so their names were not available, but he confirmed that one person was detained following the standoff.
At the end of the standoff, one of the juvenile suspects attempted to flee the scene on a bicycle but was quickly taken into custody after deputies deployed a taser, officials said.
There was no additional information available as of this story’s publication.
