Two leaders known for their local work and advocacy were given the William S. Hart Union High School District’s One Hart award during Wednesday’s meeting.

Denis Lite and John Lite were given the One Hart award by governing board member Aakash Ahuja. It recognizes community members who are representations of the Hart district’s core values.

“Together, John and Denise have demonstrated their commitment to Santa Clarita by curating, working, and advocating for children and families in this community,” Ahuja said. “They financially and emotionally support numerous other nonprofits in town and truly demonstrate the meaning behind the One Hart award.”

John is part of the Santa Clarita Valley’s Boys & Girls club executive board, which he joined in 2019.  He is also the current board president. Ahuja said his recent role in supporting policy holders during the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires earned recognition from state legislators and congressional representatives.

Denise, a local attorney, has served as a board member for Single Mothers Outreach, Soroptimist International of Valencia, Carousel Ranch and the SCV Chamber of Commerce, according to Ahuja.

“Receiving this award as a couple is truly special because John and I are a team in all things,” Denise said, thanking Ahuja and the rest of the board for the recognition.

“What makes Santa Clarita truly special is not just the countless organizations doing the work. It’s the people behind those organizations,” she said.

“This community continuously shows up with generous hearts, working hands, and a willingness to help others succeed,” Denise said, adding that their work with local nonprofits has brought them joy. “We are grateful to stand alongside you and hold hands with so many other people who lead with kindness, generosity and heart, so thank you again for this incredible honor.”
