A routine day at MacArthur Park took an unexpected turn Tuesday when Justin Bieber appeared with several musicians for an impromptu performance, drawing a small crowd and plenty of attention online.

Video of the Sept. 22 appearance, captured by USA Scoop, shows Bieber sitting with musicians on the grass and performing for people gathered nearby. The singer played percussion and sang several songs, including “Yukon,” according to footage and reports from the scene.

The appearance was notably different from the large-scale performances Bieber has been associated with this year. Rather than a ticketed venue or festival stage, the singer performed in a public park with people watching from just a few feet away.

Reports indicate the visit was not originally intended as a concert. A source close to Bieber told E! News that he had gone to MacArthur Park to provide resources to people experiencing homelessness, including water and gift cards. The performance happened during the visit.

The location also gave the appearance added significance. MacArthur Park has been the focus of continuing efforts by city, county and federal officials, as well as community organizations, addressing homelessness, drug activity, public safety and the use of public space. Recent efforts have included increased enforcement as well as community and park programming.

The unexpected appearance subsequently attracted comments from Los Angeles officials. County District Attorney Nathan Hochman described Bieber’s performance as a sign of progress at the park, while First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli also referenced the appearance on social media. Community leaders, meanwhile, have emphasized that the experiences of people who live and work around MacArthur Park should remain central to discussions about changes at the site.

For those who happened to be at the park, however, the moment was less about the surrounding political and public-safety debate and more about an unexpected celebrity appearance unfolding in front of them.

The USA Scoop footage offers a glimpse of the low-key performance as Bieber and the musicians around him played for the gathering crowd.

The appearance adds another unusual entry to Bieber’s 2026 performance schedule, which has already included major stages such as Coachella and the FIFA World Cup final. In MacArthur Park, the setting could hardly have been more different: an open public space, a handful of musicians and an audience that formed spontaneously.
