Two brothers were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated in Newhall and resulted in an arrest on suspicion of attempted murder, according to officials from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The incident at approximately 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday on the 24000 block of Shadeland Drive involved multiple weapons, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the sheriff’s station.

One of the brothers allegedly grabbed a knife and approached the victim, Miller said in a phone interview. It escalated further with the suspect allegedly grabbing a bow and arrow and beginning to shoot arrows at the victim, none of which hit the victim. The suspect missed and then allegedly grabbed a firearm and pointed it at the victim, making threats to harm him, according to Miller.

Deputies were called to the scene in response to a report of a family disturbance and the suspect was arrested on suspicion of several felonies, including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats.

The victim was said to be unharmed.
