Tony Hannoun: Just change your stripes, Mr. Buck

Regarding Mr. Kevin Buck and his Democratic Voices (“On the grifter and the rubes” published Dec. 6 in The Signal), no human can be considered perfect at all times. We do unpleasant things and we do good things.

President-elect Trump as a human did good things and bad things. The American people, when electing, voted for Mr. Donald Trump because they discovered that what he did right was more than what he did wrong.

Mrs. Hillary Clinton did not pass the same test. The American people spoke and were not willing to listen to the liberal media.

Kevin Buck will have a great potential as a Republican if he changes his state of mind and starts to demolish his liberal outlook on life.

He is a great writer, I have faith that he can change, and there is nothing impossible.

“Just change your stripes, Mr. Buck”

“Trump is on track for strong public disapproval” !!!!!

    • Ron Bischof

According to whom? President-Elect Trump just won the Presidential election and hasn’t been sworn into office yet. Aren’t you getting a little ahead of actual events, Ms. Eisenberg?

In fact, his historically highest ratings are taking place right now… because everyone knows he’s finally LEAVING OFFICE!!!!!!

After the shameful vote abstention on Israel at the UN, 1/20/17 can’t come soon enough!

Presidential Approval Rating 57% — Barack Obama as of Dec 18, 2016!!!!!

        • Gene Walker

As always, you simply ignore the facts. I presented you with a visual representation of how, for the majority of his two terms, BO failed to reach even a 50% approval. Instead of weighing this evidence and formulating a cogent response, you look at a single day, as if it represented his entire term.

  • Gene Walker

What difference does that make? That’s not how our elections work, now or ever.

  • Ron Bischof

So? I’m continually amused when those that voted for Hillary Clinton raise this irrelevant statistic, Mr. Smith. Presidents aren’t elected by national popular vote. They are elected by popular vote within states and the electors within those states are allocated by the respective state laws. The formula for electors is calculated by the number of Representatives in the House + 2 Senators per state. In our Federalist Republic, states are represented in the Federal government, not individual citizens. This mirrors how Congress is elected. Individual citizens are represented by their state and local governments.

President-Elect Trump won the majority of state electors by an appreciable margin. That’s the relevant statistic. See: Constitution.

Further, what “Progressives” propose when agitating for elimination of the Electoral College is California, Texas, Florida and New York dictating to the rest of the nation who will be President. Since it will require a Constitutional amendment to eliminate the EC, ⅔ of states will never vote to be enslaved by a small minority of states with large population centers.

    That’s a reality based summation.

“Trump’s pursuit of his own financial gain seems to be pointing us toward a kleptocracy, collusion with brutal regimes and terrifying shifts in foreign policy. He threatens freedom of speech, assembly and the press, as well as American Muslims‘ free exercise of religion, among his other authoritarian tendencies.”

“Don’t compare Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler. It belittles Hitler.”
“One was a psychopath who believed his raving rants. The other is a con man.”

“JERUSALEM/WASHINGTON – A senior Palestinian official warned on Friday that implementation of Donald Trump’s pledge to relocate the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem would destroy any prospects for peace with Israel, even as a spokesman for the U.S. President-elect said he remained committed to the move.”

    • Ron Bischof

Well, there’s a reliable source! Good to know whom you consider quotable, Ms. Eisenberg.

Did the “senior Palestinian official” renounce terrorism and recognize Israel’s right to exist?

Also, did you know that a U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem is official policy since 1995?

  • Gene Walker

Perhaps you can find a new nit to pick.

  • Ron Bischof

Rather than clarifying, it’s different than this post: “But Donald Trump lost the popular vote by a margin of a few million.”

When “Progressives” cite such, it’s typically an attempt to delegitimize the election winner. Since you’re “aware of how the electoral process works”, you know the election was legitimate.

Preemptively, note that a so called “mandate” is a political invention unrelated to the Constitutional powers of the President, which are constant without regard to electoral or popular votes.
