When Hart girls soccer coach Guilherme Mitrovitch first saw Taylor Scott play on the junior varsity team her freshman year, he didn’t expect her to eventually win Foothill League Player of the Year. “Sometimes players go varsity freshman year and you can tell they’re going to be good,” Mitrovitch said. “Scott, I couldn’t really tell in the freshman year. That shows how much she worked to get where she got.” Scott worked her way onto the varsity team her sophomore year and began to garner playing time. Her junior year, she earned a starting spot. This year, her senior year, she was one of Hart’s most important offensive players and earned league Player of the Year honors.

She scored a total of 14 goals and had eight assists this season. Her most clutch performances came in the postseason. On Feb. 16, she scored the game-winning goal in the first round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 playoffs. Less than a week later, in the second round of playoffs, Scott scored the golden goal in double overtime. “As one of the captains and one of the leaders on the team, she had a big role on and off the field,” Mitrovitch said. “She really leads by example. She works super hard. She pushes the girls. She’s encouraging to her teammates, so I’m very happy and excited for her.” Scott wasn’t always Hart’s best finisher. In previous years, she played as a winger before transitioning to center forward. She’s also been key in defending set pieces. Mitrovitch noted her ability to defend headers, in particular. “She’s a player you can use in many different ways,” he said. “She’s the type of player that a coach knows is very versatile.” “She worked extremely hard to get where she got. We had a lot of other strong players who were close to getting that award, but I’m happy for her … and I’m excited for the future.” Here’s the complete list of All-Foothill League teams:
