The Valencia Vikings football team turned in a dominant performance Friday night, beating the Palmdale High Falcons 49-9.
The Vikings (1-0) dominated the game from the jump, with running back Jayvaun Wilson kicking off the affair with a three-yard touchdown rush, the first of his three touchdowns on the night.
Valencia extended their lead when quarterback Connor Downs connected with wide receiver Mykael Wright for a 44-yard touchdown. After that, the Falcons (0-2) were unable to catch up, falling behind 21-0 before scoring.
Valencia dominated the game on the ground, with running back Moises Haynes adding in two touchdowns.
SCCS 24, South Pasadena 14
The Santa Clarita Christian School Cardinals football team defeated the South Pasadena High Tigers by a score of 24-14 Friday night at South Pasadena.
The Tigers (1-1) were able to keep it competitive until a 64-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Blake Kirshner to wide receiver Blaike Orth gave the team a ten-point lead in the fourth quarter. The Blake-to-Blaike connection sealed the Cardinals (2-0).
Kirshner said of his team’s winning performance: “Started off slow, finished strong. South Pasadena is an extremely tough and physical football team and we played our tails off. I love our guys and wouldn’t want to do it with anybody else.”
