Santa Clarita Christian football is the No. 1 seed in Division 13, the San Joaquin League champions and has an undefeated record to boot.

Tonight, they begin what could be a lengthy postseason journey with a game against Hamilton of Anza at Canyon High School.

The Bobcats (5-5) have outscored opponents 357 to 96 this season, but the Cardinals bring plenty of scoring power of their own.

In their last outing, SCCS (10-0) took down Southlands Christian 62-6. Junior quarterback Blake Kirshner threw for five touchdowns, adding to a prolific season in which he has completed 222 of 352 passes for 3,305 yards and 41 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Lucas Pettee, a sophomore, has been pacing the Cards on the ground. He most recently rushed for three touchdowns against Southlands Christian and has totaled 937 yards and 10 touchdowns on 116 carries this year. Pettee exited the win over Southlands Christian with an injury during the third quarter.

Clearing the way for Pettee and giving Kirshner plenty of time to make passes is Noah Nnabuo, a lineman who provides size and power.

Carson Schwesinger, who has 11 tackles in 10 games, also provides skill on defense. Behind him is Tommy Shields, who has 10 total tackles in five games.

SCCS has never reached a CIF final in 11-man football, but won two eight-man football titles in 2008 and 2009.
