West Ranch softball coach Jay Creps was released this afternoon.

The move was confirmed by West Ranch athletic director Cassandra Perez and Creps himself this evening.

Creps said that he was told by the Wildcats athletic department that the program wanted to go in a different direction. He added that his termination was a complete surprise.

“I’m out of there,” Creps told The Signal. “It’s a really good day in my life that I don’t have to worry about that anymore.”

Creps, 63, took over the Wildcats program in July 2016. The Cats finished last in the Foothill League last season with a 10-17 overall record and a 3-7 record in league.

He previously coached at Sierra Canyon and Chatsworth.

West Ranch athletics will be releasing more information on the matter tomorrow. Check signalscv.com for more updates.
