Thomas Oatway | A TSA Solution to the Shutdown

Rather than allow the Trump Shutdown to continue indefinitely, I have a solution suggestion that I am reasonably certain will end it within 24 to 48 hours.

The TSA employees should be invited to take one or two days off with pay by Speaker Nancy Pelosi. This will effectively shut down domestic and international air travel, extending the shutdown impact beyond the 800,000 affected federal employees and their families.

When Congress learns that they will be trapped in D.C. and unable to return home for their long weekends, a legislative solution with nearly unanimous approval can be expected.

There is no reason why a small segment of the American public should be penalized while the government is held hostage for a vanity wall project. The adults in Congress, if there are any, can then negotiate a border security package that has veto-proof majority support.
