State Sen. Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, is hosting a free Women’s Safety and Self-Defense Workshop on Saturday, April 6, at The Centre.
Wilk has hosted various women’s self-defense workshops in previous years, and is hosting the April event in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
The course will offer simple techniques on how women can protect themselves, which can mean the difference between life and death in dangerous situations.
“Abuse and domestic violence is a big problem in our society and something I am dedicated to making a difference as I have a daughter and wife,” said Wilk after a previous workshop. “The goal of the workshop was to empower women and make them victors, not victims.”
The workshop is free to attend and open to women and girls over the age of 14. The workshop is scheduled 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at The Centre, located at 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway.
