Ice cream enthusiasts can add a new joint to their list as Korean-owned and California-based Honeymee opened its first Santa Clarita Valley location at Westfield Valencia Town Center.
The store, located within the first floor of the mall, officially opened April 26, and has already drawn crowds.
“We’ve been open since last Friday and we’ve seen a rush of people,” said employee Lauren Doan, who added that there’s been excitement over the brand coming to Santa Clarita.
The rapidly growing chain recently opened a location at Westfield Topanga — the next nearest location — and has 15 other stores across Southern California.
Honeymee serves soft, creamy ice cream made with fresh “California milk from a family-owned, kosher certified dairy farm,” according to the company website. The ice cream is drizzled with pure honey and bite-sized honeycomb pieces.
The house favorite, according to employee Aubrey Kellerman, is the “Sweetie,” which is true milk ice cream and honey. Other flavors include chocolate, sea salt caramel and matcha.
Besides ice cream, Honeymee also serves milkshakes, coffees, hot and iced teas and Liege waffles.
Honeymee is among a ”mixture of first-timers” that Westfield has welcomed to its market as part of the mall’s expansion and renovation, said Corrine Barchanowicz, mall senior general manager.
“We want to be that lifestyle destination,” said Barchanowicz when retailer Miniso opened its first SCV location in November, followed by Pressed Juicery in late March. “It’s a mix of shopping, dining and entertainment and we are certainly growing in all those categories.”
