Rush Limbaugh used to say he did his radio show for those who listened to it and not for those who didn’t. The people who criticized him the most were those who didn’t even listen to his show. They didn’t know him and they didn’t understand his program.

Rush was an entertainer. His fans appreciated not only his wisdom but also his unique style of humor. His detractors just didn’t get him. Of course he was the foremost proponent of political conservatism. He was also a teacher of sorts. He had a knack for seeing the essence of an issue and explaining it.

He described the difference between Democrats on the left and conservatives on the right very simply: Leftists want control, conservatives advocate for freedom.
