Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland come to Buzz Classic Movies this week with a Saturday night showing of “Santa Fe Trail,” set in the pre-Civil War era.
The 1940 movie also features a pre-presidential Ronald Reagan portraying George Custer.
The film has earned a 56% “fresh” rating from the critics based on nine reviews, and a 50% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes’ “Popcornmeter” based on more than 1,000 ratings.
“After graduating from West Point, Jeb Stuart and George Custer are both stationed at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas,” says the Rotten Tomatoes summary of the movie. “Once there, they find that the violent abolitionist John Brown has laid waste to the state, killing anyone who gets in the way of his anti-slavery crusade. While the duo must work together to battle the murderous revolutionary, they also come to blows over their competing love for Kit Carson Holliday.”
“Santa Fe Trail” streams at 8 p.m. Saturday on The Signal’s streaming channel, The Buzz, available at buzzscv.com as well as streaming platforms including Roku and Apple TV.
