In response to the (Feb. 10) “Melt ICE” letter by Lois Eisenberg: By her claims, I guess Ms. Eisenberg is in favor of allowing criminals, including murderers, rapists, child sex traffickers, robbers and drug traffickers, etc., who are among the illegal aliens who freely roam our country thanks to previous lax border policies.
Yes, even though many liberals refuse to admit it, it is illegal to run across our national border!
She stated Immigration and Customs Enforcement has put the “fear of God” into the people of Minnesota. Good! Those criminals should be afraid that ICE is coming for them.
Any legal citizen has nothing to fear if they are a law-abiding citizen and not impeding or interfering with federal agencies trying to make America better and safer for all of us.
ICE does not need to be overly aggressive or use force if communities simply let them do their job without interference. Who are the criminals? Federal agents enforcing our laws, or the people assaulting officers of the law, throwing objects at them, vandalizing their vehicles or obstructing their enforcement of our nation’s laws?
It is tragic that several deaths have occurred, but those people would still be alive if they had peacefully protested and not interfered with law enforcement agents.
Ms. Eisenberg, the Constitution gives you the right to peaceful assembly to protest and freedom of speech. I support that 100%. But it doesn’t give you the legal right to use force or violence to obstruct other citizens or law enforcement agencies enforcing the laws.
Your remarks about Minnesota students being concerned about ICE don’t impress me. This is what I have seen on Santa Clarita streets in the last few days: Students approximately 13-16 years old holding signs reading “F— Trump” and “F— ICE.” I’ll bet most don’t even know what the letters ICE stand for.
Oh, and yes, some were waving Mexican flags. Maybe they should all move to Mexico where life is better.
Ms. Eisenberg, I’m guessing if the criminal illegal aliens and the homeless who you have championed in the past lived next to you or camped on your front lawn, you would be singing a different tune.
Too many Americans are ignorant of what is happening in their own country.
