News release
The Santa Clarita Artists Association gallery is presenting “Rustic Roots,” an intimate exhibit featuring seven local artists across varied media, highlighting the spirit and fortitude of those who built and cultivated this rugged region.
The show run dates are Friday through April 19, with a free opening reception scheduled 5-8 p.m. Saturday.
“Rustic Roots: The California West” offers a distinctly California take on Western art. Guests are encouraged to explore not only the finished works, but also the creative process through live demonstrations and music.
Highlights of the opening reception include:
- Live music with the easygoing sound of Everyday People, performing Americana and folk music.
- Gourd pyrography demonstration: Nadiya Littlewarrior will showcase the detailed art of woodburning on gourds.
- Watercolor demonstration: Zony Gordon will demonstrate watercolor techniques, capturing the soft washes and shifting light that define California’s landscapes.
- Drawing demonstration: Ginger DeValue will bring expressive drawings to life.
