News release
The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra is scheduled to conclude its spring season and celebrate its 40th anniversary with a free community concert on Sunday at 4 p.m. at The Wild Beast on the campus of California Institute of the Arts.
The outdoor performance will feature SCVYO’s young musicians in an afternoon of live orchestral music in an open-air setting. Audience members are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the concert experience. Donations are welcome and will directly support the nonprofit organization’s music education programs and student performance opportunities.
As part of the event, SCVYO will also unveil a 20-foot mural created by SCVYO students during the orchestra’s recent performance trip to Seattle. The mural commemorates the students’ collaborative artistic experience and highlights the organization’s commitment to interdisciplinary arts education.
In addition to the concert, raffle prizes and concessions will be available for attendees.
Now celebrating 40 years of serving young musicians in the Santa Clarita Valley, SCVYO is working toward a $10,000 fundraising goal and has reached the halfway mark.
“Our students continue to grow not only as musicians, but also as artists and community members,” SCVYO Executive Director Xaman Nivon said in a news release. “We are grateful for the continued support that allows us to provide these transformative experiences.”
