News release

Crosspoint SCV Church is scheduled to host its annual Back-to-School Community Event on Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m., at 23415 Cinema Drive in Santa Clarita.

The free event is designed to help local families prepare for the upcoming school year by providing children with free backpacks and school supplies, said a news release from the church. Supplies will be available while quantities last, and families are encouraged to arrive early, said the release.

In addition to the backpack and school-supply distribution, families will be able to enjoy free food, music, bounce houses, games, prizes and activities for children of all ages. The evening will also include a raffle for gift cards.

Crosspoint Church has organized this yearly event as a practical way to support families throughout the Santa Clarita Valley and help students begin the school year feeling prepared and encouraged, the release said.

“This event is simply about helping our community,” said the release. “There is no requirement to attend our church, become a member or sign up for anything. We want families to know that our community cares about them.”

The celebration will continue with a free Family Movie Night on Friday, Aug. 7, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Crosspoint Church. The movie will begin at approximately 7 p.m., and free popcorn, candy and snacks will be provided. Families are invited to bring their children, friends and neighbors for a relaxed evening together.

Families who are unable to attend Wednesday’s Back-to-School Event may also register on the church’s website, crosspointscv.org, to receive available backpacks and school supplies during the Aug. 7 movie night.

Both events are free and open to everyone in the Santa Clarita community.
