News release

The Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley announces “Art for a Life Free from Violence,” a community exhibition dedicated to elevating voices and experiences that are too often silenced, the club said in a news release.

Through visual expression, the exhibit invites artists and viewers alike to witness, reflect, and stand together in solidarity against violence in all its forms, the release said.

The theme, “We See You. We Hear You. We Stand with You.” underscores the power of art as both testimony and response, the release said. The exhibition creates space for acknowledging harm, believing survivors, and embracing collective responsibility for change. Art becomes a platform for processing experiences, expressing care, and inspiring advocacy.

“Art has the ability to reveal truths that words alone cannot,” Dawn Abasta, co-chair of the event, said in the release. “This exhibit honors the courage of those who have endured violence and celebrates the strength of community support.”

The call for artists is open through Oct. 15. Artists whose work explores the impact of violence or aggression are invited to submit up to two original works for consideration. Artwork may explore personal or collective experiences, the effects of violence, or artistic reactions to these realities. All 2D and 3D fine art mediums are welcome. Video and artificial intelligence‑generated work are not permitted. Unique substrates and wall‑mounted sculptural pieces will be evaluated individually.

Requirements and submission information can be found at tinyurl.com/bdeepmes.

After the art submission deadline of Oct. 15, art selection is planned to be completed by Nov. 1, and artists notified by Nov. 9. Art installation is scheduled Dec. 2-3 and the exhibit, at the Santa Clarita Artists Association Gallery in Newhall, is scheduled Dec. 4-6. The closing celebration and awards are scheduled 2 p.m. Dec. 6.
