News release
Santa Clarita Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2026-27 concert season, a four-concert series “celebrating powerful storytelling, exceptional artistry, and unforgettable orchestral music,” the organization said in a news release.
The season opens Oct. 11 with “Voices of the People,” a celebration of national identity and cultural heritage, exploring how music expresses the spirit of a nation.
“Experience Edvard Grieg’s beloved ‘Piano Concerto,’ performed by Sora Corro, the grand prize winner of SCSO’s annual Young Soloist Competition,” said the release. Then, hear the West Coast premiere of “The American Experiment,” a new suite written for the U.S. semiquincentennial by Disney and Lucasfilm composer David Glen Russell.
Santa Clarita City Council member Bill Miranda will narrate excerpts from America’s founding documents as part of “The American Experiment.” The concert will conclude with Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Russian Easter Overture.”
Holiday traditions return Dec. 13 with “Snowfall Spectacular,” the orchestra’s annual festive performance featuring beloved classics, movie favorites, and audience sing-alongs, the release said.
The spring season begins with “Brilliance in Bloom,” showcasing the winners of this year’s Young Soloist Competition. The concert will also transport audiences to Middle-Earth with music from the film “The Fellowship of the Ring,” combining cinematic grandeur with the brilliance of emerging young musicians, the release said.
The season concludes with “Voyages in the North,” featuring Tchaikovsky’s “Symphony No. 2,” affectionately known as the “Little Russian,” in a program celebrating the landscapes, traditions and musical heritage of Northern Europe.
“SCSO is also excited to announce that Conductor Martín Alexander Arellano has been appointed as artistic director,” the release said. “As artistic director, Maestro Arellano will curate each concert with captivating pieces and special guests to bring high-quality entertainment to the Santa Clarita Valley.”
Arellano said in the release: “This season you can continue to expect wonderful musical storytelling, great classics, some surprising gems, and a few surprises that we are sure will leave you wanting more. Join us for another exciting season of music right here in Santa Clarita.”
