The Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley, in partnership with Child & Family Center, will bring together community leaders, advocates and public safety professionals for “Unite Against Domestic Violence: An Evening of Awareness & Action” on Friday at the Child & Family Center Education Building in Santa Clarita.
The free community event is designed to create a meaningful conversation about domestic violence and the resources, partnerships and actions that can help create a safer community, said a news release from Zonta on behalf of the two nonprofits.
The evening will address topics including survivor support, public safety, mental health and prevention, the release said.
The program will feature a panel representing several perspectives on domestic violence and community response:
- California State Assemblywoman Pilar Schiavo, D-Chatsworth.
- Detective Victoria Lambrecht, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
- Stephanie Garrison, domestic violence advocate.
- Felicia Skaggs, division director, Child & Family Center.
“By bringing together professionals working in advocacy, public safety, mental health and government, Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley and Child & Family Center hope to increase awareness, encourage meaningful community dialogue and connect attendees with information that can help support survivors and prevent domestic violence,” the release said.
The event begins with social time at 5:30 p.m., followed by the presentation and panel discussion at 6 p.m. It is to be held at the Child & Family Center – Education Building, 21545 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita, CA 91350.
