Local student graduates from Fort Hays State
Fort Hays State University recognized approximately 1,732 graduates during its spring commencement ceremonies May 15 and 16, at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays.
The graduates included Brittney Armstead, bachelor of science in sociology, from Santa Clarita.
2 local students graduate from Grove City College
Two local students were among 545 who received degrees from Grove City College on May 9:
• Olivia Grimes, of Valencia, bachelor of arts in Spanish and K-12 education certification.
• Dom Puglisi, of Santa Clarita, bachelor of arts in English and philosophy.
Grove City College is a Christian liberal arts college in Grove City, Pennsylvania. Established in 1876, the college offers degrees in more than 60 undergraduate and graduate programs on a 180-acre residential campus north of Pittsburgh.
Mpho Ezell graduates from Colgate University
Mpho Ezell, of Santa Clarita, is a graduate of Colgate University in the class of 2026.
Ezell, a graduate of Golden Valley High School, majored in sociology and political science at Colgate.
Ezell received a bachelor of arts degree, summa cum laude at Colgate’s 205th Commencement.
Colgate is located in the heart of New York State.
James Frias named to Marquette University’s dean’s list
James Frias, of Santa Clarita, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2026 semester at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Frias is pursuing a bachelor of science in business economics.
To make the dean’s list, students must have earned at least 12 credits for the spring 2026 semester and have no disqualifying grades. The GPA threshold varies by college. For the College of Education and the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences, undergraduate students must have at least a 3.7 to be named to the dean’s list.
The undergraduate GPA requirement is 3.5 for the following colleges: the Diederich College of Communication, the College of Business Administration, the College of Health Sciences, the Opus College of Engineering and the College of Nursing. All other programs have a 3.75 GPA minimum.
