In keeping with the theme of physical therapy, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital’s Physical Therapy Clinic just got its own rehabilitation.
In an effort to expand and welcome more services to the east side of town, the Golden Valley Physical Therapy Clinic held its Open House and Expansion Celebration on Wednesday.
Adding several new rooms, new equipment and new services, the clinic, located in the Plaza at Golden Valley, allows for residents throughout Santa Clarita to have better access and closer proximity to access recovery resources.
Patrick Moody, director of marketing and public relations for the hospital, and John Adam, director of rehab services, welcomed attendees to the event, remarking on the growth of the facility.

“We wanted to expand our services to this side of Santa Clarita, so this is part of that effort to allow them to see a lot more patients,” Moody said.
“Just with this expansion, we’ve already added two therapists, and we expect to add a third, just with this expansion alone. I think after all of this, we’ll have nine therapists here, and each one sees about eight to 10,” Adam added.
According to Adam, with the addition of lymphedema services, there was a need for more privacy for the patients.
“We opened our first clinic here in 2009, and then we expanded five years later into the second space. We have orthopedic therapy here, we have pelvic floor therapy. Our goal is to also get a lymphedema specialist here, and so with that, we needed more private rooms. So we added this space, which is about 1,600 square feet, to add those four private treatment rooms to allow us to get that specialty care,” Adam said.
Two neighboring businesses, a salon and chiropractor’s office, were demolished in the year-long process for the growth of the three specialties: orthopedic, pelvic floor and lymphedema.

“It’s been about a little over a year. In the summer of last year, we started planning and figuring out what services we wanted to provide, what we needed, and then getting the architects and city to sign off and everything went pretty smoothly. But it’s just a long process to get through all the licenses, all the OKs,” Adam said. “We had so much growth in the original two suites that we just didn’t have enough bed space anymore, so we knew we needed to add space to our orthopedic clinic, and so we needed to add three more beds. With the specialty pelvic floor, we’ve been offering pelvic floor here for about five years, but we knew that it’s a very needed specialty, so we wanted to add another therapist for that.”
Adam not only believed in the incentive of serving the Santa Clarita community members, but also those who have a referral from the Antelope Valley and other neighboring cities.
“It’s just really exciting to be able to serve the community. We get patients coming from the Antelope Valley, Palmdale, Lancaster, all the way down to the (San Fernando) Valley. For some of our specialty services, we get people all the way from Bakersfield. There’s not a lot of providers in the Antelope Valley, so we’rebasically getting those populations to come down here,” Adam said. “We’re excited to invite the community to come by and see the spot. They just need a referral for therapy, and they can come in.”
Monica Reid, clinic supervisor since 2022, praised her team as they navigated months of construction.
“It was a very long last few months, but I have such a great team here with me, and we had some very understanding patients. It was a challenge, but we feel like we have such a good, kind-of-small team. We work really well together,” Reid said. “We’re very excited to have all the new storage. Working for Henry Mayo, I think we’realso lucky because we have the capacity to have some really cool pieces of equipment.”
Wanting to serve their patients’ best interests, some of the advanced technology in the clinic includes a Boost treadmill, which utilizes air pressure to reduce a patient’s body weight.
“We’re all about making sure that we’re servicing our community correctly and well, but we’re pretty proud of our little team here,” Reid said.
