In a combination of two digital marketing firms, Scorpion, based in Valencia, has bought Driven Local, which has its headquarters in Islandia, N.Y.

The purchase will bolster Scorpion’s ability to grow in key industries, the company said in a statement.

“With Scorpion’s intense focus on technology and customer satisfaction and Driven Local’s proven success with digital marketing campaigns and client retention, the addition of Driven Local to Scorpion was a perfect fit,” said Scorpion CEO and founder Rustin Kretz.

Both companies are active in the franchise and home service industries.

Scorpion was founded in 2001 and Driven Local in 2006. Since their inceptions, both companies have provided brands and businesses with website design, search engine optimization, paid search advertising, display advertising, social media marketing, video production, and other services.

The acquisition increases Scorpion’s employee count to more than 530 employees and brings the total number of offices to four—including Scorpion’s existing offices in Valencia and in Addison, Texas offices, plus Driven Local’s Islandia, New York and Denver, Colorado offices. Driven Local’ management and staff will stay in their current offices, and Driven Local will take on the Scorpion name.

Kevin Szypula, Driven Local’s CEO and co-founder, will join Scorpion’s executive team as chief advertising officer. Scorpion was named on the Inc. 5000 List of America’s Fastest-Growing Companies each year from 2011 to 2016. Meanwhile, Driven Local was named on the Inc. 500 List of America’s Fastest-Growing Companies from 2012 through 2014.

Both companies are Google Premier Partners and Bing Elite Partners.
