Circle of Hope, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting those fighting cancer in Santa Clarita, announced Cheryl Ramirez as the new director of client services Thursday.
Ramirez is set to replace Jill Bondy, who announced her retirement earlier this year, though she will remain on the organization’s executive board.
“Cheryl’s got a wealth of knowledge working with people here in Santa Clarita,” said Laura Kirchhoff, executive director of Circle of Hope. “She has unique people skills that will be great with working with our cancer clients here.”
Kirchhoff has known Ramirez through the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce, where Ramirez served as the director of member services for 11 years.
“I have enjoyed over 20 years in my career providing customer service in a variety of ways,” Ramirez said in a prepared statement. “I have long admired the wonderful work done by the board and staff at Circle of Hope and have had the pleasure of getting to know them through their association with the chamber.”
Once Ramirez had left the chamber, the position at Circle of Hope became available, and Kirchhoff said she thought Ramirez would be the perfect fit.
“I’ve seen her go the extra mile in helping people in business in Santa Clarita and the passion she’s held,” Kirchhoff said. “I’m more than confident she’s going to bring that same passion and skills to Circle of Hope,”
As the primary point of contact for the organization’s clients who are seeking financial assistance for cancer medical treatments, the director of client services’ role is to help navigate medical billing and offer resources available to cancer patients as well as those in recovery.
“We love Santa Clarita and feel strongly about the importance of giving back to the community that has given us so much,” said Ramirez, who has been an SCV resident since 2005. “Circle of Hope will enable me to do just that. I am eager to have the opportunity to help and support those in our community with cancer and assist them in their wellness journey.”
