The city of Santa Clarita is scheduled to host a Dias de los Muertos celebration at the Canyon Country Community Center from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
The event will have a live mariachi band playing throughout the afternoon, a youth sports zombie-inspired run, a mini monster maze for toddlers and young children, crafts, prize giveaways and more.
One thing the city is doing differently this year is a marigold archway to honor loved ones with messages, according to Gabriela Martinez, communications specialist with the city.
There will also be a traditional Catrina parade with the mariachi band following participants, Martinez said.
The event is free. Costumes are encouraged but not required.
The address is 18410 Sierra Highway, Santa Clarita.
