The Santa Clarita Valley School Food Services Agency, which serves the Newhall School District, Castaic Union School District, Saugus Union School District and Sulphur Springs Union School District, has made a series of changes to its school menus designed to bring fresher, healthier and more flavorful options to students across the valley, the agency announced in a news release.

“These enhancements include upgraded entrées, refreshed side dishes, and improved fresh fruit and vegetable selections, all crafted with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and housemade recipes,” the release said. “Student favorites have been reimagined with better flavors and more nutritious choices, while new items add variety to daily meals. The changes reflect the program’s commitment to elevating school meals and making them something students look forward to each day.”

In addition to menu upgrades, the SCV School Food Services Agency has partnered with Chef Brigaid, a nationally recognized organization dedicated to transforming school food service, the release said.

This collaboration assigned a dedicated full-time chef to the agency. With oversight from the director of child nutrition programs, Chef Brittany Young, the school nutrition team continues to refine recipes, introduce creative new offerings, and ensure that every meal is both nourishing and appealing, the release said.
