After numerous early-on letters of concern about the proposed eight-story courthouse across the street from the mall, I have heard nothing recently. Crickets.
I have heard plenty about the detour up Bouquet Canyon. I sympathize with those who will be affected by the increased waiting-in-traffic times and the danger of those seeking short-cuts through residential neighborhoods. As bad as this seems, it will be over in 11 months. An eight-story courthouse in the middle of Valencia will adversely affect all of the Santa Clarita Valley for generations. Wave after wave of felons will be coming to our fair city daily. It is the greatest threat to our city since I moved here 51 years ago.
I am often curious when I see groups of liberals near the Corner Bakery protesting nonsensical causes like No Kings and Stop ICE. Where do these people come from? How do they organize these futile marches so quickly? Is it all done on social media? I am asking those people (you know who you are) to use your best organizing and protesting skills to protest a genuine cause that will affect you and your family for decades to come: No Courthouse.
I realize that No Courthouse doesn’t have the same cachet as your pet liberal causes. Therefore, I will give you some incentive. I have it on good authority that the state plans to name the new courthouse the Donald J. Trump County Courthouse. In addition to that, the new courthouse will be the new North County headquarters of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. They will stage there to round up bad hombres from the Woodlands and the Summit.
You know what to do. I’ll be out there walking with you.
