My husband and I separately read the (Jan. 15) commentary by Richard Harding regarding the death of Dr. Martin Luther King and were impressed both by the thoughts and quality of writing of the article. Coming from that generation we remember the many young men who were drafted into military service. My husband, brother, brother-in-law and cousin were all drafted and served. The military of that time became a place where men of different backgrounds all served together. This changed the lives of many Americans. Living in a multiracial society is now normal for many people.

Publishing articles like this one makes The Signal serve an important purpose in the Santa Clarita Valley. It is nice when we are able to read different views expressed by different writers rather than just a few writers who seem to criticize each other. Thank you to both Mr. Harding and the publisher for sharing thought-provoking writing.
