Arthur Saginian | Deification of Trump?

Emmanuel Francois (letters, Nov. 7) has inspired me consider the possible canonization (or even deification) of President Donald Trump. No, seriously …

I don’t know how many people have considered the fact that Trump has a lot in common with Jesus Christ. Trump may, in fact, BE the “Second Coming.” Please, read on …

Jesus, like Trump, was both a divider and a disrupter, which is why he was crucified. Trump survived two assassination attempts.

Jesus supposedly performed many miracles. Trump has also performed miracles, which include beating two women in a row for the presidency. Hell, he even got the popular vote over a woke woman of color from California who speaks in seven different accents. Now if that’s not a miracle …

Jesus walked on water, proving He was “above the law,” or at least the laws of physics. Trump has managed to avoid prison despite numerous indictments, proving that he is also “above the law.”

Despite what you’ve been told, some people (very “special” people) are indeed above the law.

Jesus gave hope of eternal salvation to the miserable masses: “Follow my lead and you shall go to heaven and enjoy life everlasting.” Nice deal.

Trump is also into making deals: “Dump the Democrats and follow my lead and you’ll help ‘Make America Great Again.’”

Go to heaven? Show me one Yelp review of the afterlife and we can talk.

See how that works? It’s so beautiful in its simplicity. Think about it: Why would Trump bother with being a mere king or a fascist dictator when he can come so close to being God Himself?
