Our town boasts over 35 beautiful parks offering wonderful green space for residents to enjoy. However, looking at the recreational amenities provided, there is a glaring omission. Not one bocce ball court!
Bocce is a low-impact accessible sport that brings people of all ages, especially seniors, together in a fun, social environment. While we have plenty of fields we are overlooking a large demographic looking for leisure activities that don’t require intense running. Installing a few low-cost bocce ball courts in our existing parks would foster community interaction and provide a needed outlet for our aging population.
Bocce allows grandparents and grandchildren to play together.
Let’s make the park system more inclusive for all ages.
