Local author releases book aiming to help children with anxiety

Madison Randolph, a Saugus-based children’s book author and licensed clinical psychologisthas released her debut picture book, “Luna the Very Anxious Dog,” a heartfelt story designed to help young children understand and cope with anxiety, according to a news release from the author. 

The book follows Luna, a lovable dog who experiences worries big and small. The book supports age-appropriate conversations about anxiety, coping skills and emotional safety, the release said. The book is geared toward children ages 4-8, parents, teachers, counselors and therapists who want a kind, dog-loving way to help kids feel safe, understood and supported.  

“As a psychologist, I’ve seen how early emotional education can make a lasting difference,” Randolph said in the release. “I wrote ‘Luna the Very Anxious Dog’ to help children feel less alone in their worries and to give parents and caregivers an accessible way to start important conversations about mental health.” 

Randolph is a licensed clinical psychologist, a mom and dog mom, drawing inspiration from both her professional work and personal life. 

“Luna the Very Anxious Dog” is available in bookstores and from online retailers.
