News release
This year’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Santa Clarita Valley takes place at Central Park on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the theme “Superheroes Unite!”
The community is invited to attend the free and family-friendly event featuring live entertainment, carnival games, vendors, children’s activities, raffle drawings, food trucks, and education and awareness community resources, the local chapter said in a news release.
Opening ceremonies begin at 9 a.m., followed by a special first lap to honor survivors and caregivers who walk the track to the cheers of the community while gathered in a shared commitment to create a world without cancer, the release said.
In the evening, before 8 p.m., the Luminaria Ceremony takes place. Participants carry lights around the track amid decorated illuminated bags, each dedicated to celebrating a survivor or honoring and remembering loved ones.
In 2025, Relay for Life of Santa Clarita Valley ranked No. 16 in the nation based on total funds raised. It celebrated roughly 225 survivors, welcomed more than 1,200 participants, and was recognized nationwide as an American Cancer Society Premier Relay for Life Event, an honor only given to the top fundraising events in the nation, the release said.
Since 1999, the SCV has raised over $9 million to support lifesaving cancer research and services for local patients and their families, including free rides to cancer patients’ treatment appointments, places to stay when treatment is delivered far from home, and a 24/7 live chat service, the release said.
