The local chapter of the American Cancer Society is inviting the community to “Relay Rally” on Saturday as part of the buildup to the upcoming Relay for Life.

The Relay Rally is scheduled 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Newhall Crossing, in the courtyard by Laemmle Theatre, 22500 Lyons Ave. There will be face painting, cape decorating and games for all ages to enjoy, the organization said in a news release. Parking in the adjacent parking structure is free.

Luminarias will be ready for decorating to honor a cancer survivor or memorialize a lost loved one. Information and advocacy about American Cancer Society services for patients, survivors and their families will also be available, as well as registration for individuals and teams for the upcoming Relay for Life.

Relay Rally is a warm-up event for the annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Santa Clarita Valley, taking place this year on Saturday, May 2, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Central Park with the theme “Superheroes Unite!”

Relay for Life is a free and family-friendly community event featuring live entertainment, carnival games, vendors, children’s activities, raffle drawings, food trucks, tributes to survivors and caregivers, the luminaria ceremony, education and awareness, and fun for everyone.
