Students from the Valencia High School Instrumental Music Program recently experienced the power of world-class performance during a live concert by the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles, according to a news release from the music program.
Selected secondary schools from across Los Angeles County were invited to attend this special performance, providing students with a unique opportunity to witness professional musicians at the highest level, the release said.
Valencia’s student musicians were immersed in the artistry, precision and expressive power of a world-renowned orchestra, gaining insight into the depth of preparation and collaboration required for a performance of this caliber, the release said.
“Exposure to world-class music making helps students witness, experience, and understand the real world, giving them a vital look at the opportunities for their future music career paths and providing inspiration for their own music making,” Kelvin Flores, Valencia’s director of instrumental music, said in the release.
“The concert highlighted the evolving role of the conductor and its impact on musical interpretation across time,” the release said. “Students were captivated not only by the stunning acoustics and architecture of the hall, but also by the emotional depth and technical excellence of the performance. Many described the experience as transformative — one that will stay with them throughout their musical journeys.”
