Pope Leo has avoided mentioning Donald Trump’s name in his criticism of Trump’s war in Iran. Naturally Trump had to lash back at the pope by saying that Pope Leo “is weak on crime and terrible.”
The pope’s response was, “I have no fear of the Trump Administration, or speaking out loudly of the message of the Gospel.”
Pope Leo also has a sharp criticism of Trump’s war mongering. He has said that Trump’s threat to “destroy a whole civilization” was “truly unacceptable.”
Pope Leo has no qualms about criticizing the cruel mistreatment of the immigrants by Trump’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Pope Leo has announced that he won’t be coming to the United States in 2026, for obvious reasons.
Pope Leo will likely meet with former President Barack Obama before he meets with Trump, which will absolutely crush Trump’s fragile ego.
Pope Leo has said, “God does not bless anyone in conflict,” and is never on the “side of those who wield the sword and drop bombs.”
Pope Leo isn’t a fan of JD Vance, as was Pope Francis not a fan of Vance. Pope Francis criticized Vance for his interpretation of the Catholic doctrine.
Pope Leo also rebuked Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth who said the Iran war was divinely sanctioned.
And to add to this feud between the pope and Trump, Sean Hannity, of Fox News, had to put his 2 cents in by saying that he knows the Bible better than the pope.
Can’t bypass this: Trump posted an artificial intelligence-generated picture of himself as Jesus, wearing a white tunic and red shawl, which Jesus was commonly depicted as wearing. Wondering how that went over with the pope? Trump said he was a doctor in the post. Wink, wink!
Bless Pope Leo for his steadfast convictions and his willingness to go out on the limb to tell it like it is.
