Saugus Union School District is at a time of change, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Saugus Union School District Governing Board, Trustee Area 5.
I am a long-time resident of Saugus and started teaching in the Saugus Union School District in the early 1980s.
My husband is a retired teacher from the William S. Hart Union High School District. Our daughter went through Highlands Elementary School before graduating from Saugus High School.
Over the many years, we have enjoyed Saugus and feel blessed to part of the community.
My passion for education has continued to grow over my 40 years of experience. As a teacher for over 20 years, I mentored new teachers before becoming an administrator and finally I had the privilege of training new teachers as a full-time professor in the School of Education at The Master’s University.
Even after retiring, my passion never diminished in the desire to see young children get the very best education possible to optimize their freedom to be what they aspire to become as adults. I look at the classroom as a place to make a difference in future generations.
As the district begins a next chapter under new leadership, I know that I could be an important member with expertise in working with students in the classrooms, as well as asking tough questions to make necessary changes to create safe schools, and a clear focus on the issues that matter most in our communities.
The decisions made as a governing board member would be based on my knowledge on what is most effective regarding programs or plans for both students and teachers. I will be available for parents, so they can be heard and seen at the district level. My leadership approach has always been student-centered as well as serving others and that will continue to be my approach as a trustee.
Strong schools begin with excellent teachers, responsible stewardship, transparent decisions, and a community that works together for every child.
