Saugus Union School District has a unique opportunity to implement positive, constructive changes on Nov.  3. There are three seats on this year’s ballot. Since we are district-based, I urge ALL SUSD families to share and encourage friends and family to support the following:

Anna Griese (Area 2), incumbent: For almost four years it seems Anna was the lone voice of common sense and vigorous support of children, parents and teachers. With the long-overdue replacement of the past superintendent, SUSD has an obligation to reelect Anna. Endorsed by teachers, unions, civic and community leaders, our schools need her to return and continue her stewardship of excellence in support of the most basic needs and rights of students, parents and teachers.

Cindy Hallman (Area 5): While new to “politics,” Cindy is not new to education. Cindy’s background of 40 years in education; teacher (SUSD), administrator, professor and commitment to kids, parents and teachers and her unique perspective bridging the classroom, parents, and administration makes her uniquely and very well qualified to serve the SUSD family. We need Cindy, SUSD needs Cindy and I urge you to elect Cindy to the school board.

Kevin Kim (Area 1): Another new voice of leadership and common sense. An attorney by trade and a tireless volunteer at his children’s school and on the oversight committee for the Santa Clarita Elementary 7/11 committee, Kevin will bring a fresh perspective and insight to make sure education is front and center and kids, parents and teachers will have the full support of the board of trustees.

It’s time for a change to SUSD. Please elect these three outstanding individuals.

For the William S. Hart Union High School District:

Joe Messina (Area 5), incumbent: Joe’s record and passion for education is second to none. Joe’s accomplishments and contribution to the community and education are too long to list. His accessible and transparent and unwavering support of kids, parents and teachers make Joe very well qualified to be reelected. Please return Joe to the school board.

Bryan Biggers (Area 2): Proud father of kids at Hart High School and a Hart grad himself (as a graduate of Canyon High School, I won’t hold that against him) Bryan has been actively involved in education and support of kids and our community for a very long time and will bring a fresh perspective as a business owner. Bryan is running to replace Bob Jensen, who did not seek reelection, and Bob has endorsed Bryan to continue to ensure the Hart district continues to be the best it can be. Please elect Byran Nov. 3.

I’ve lived in the Santa Clarita Valley for a long, long time. Educated locally as our children were, I cannot stress the importance of electing the best candidates for something so important as our kids’ education. Please vote for all of the above individuals and encourage friends, neighbors, and family to do likewise.
