People move to Santa Clarita for its sunny suburban neighborhoods, clean parks and excellent schools. That’s why my family did! And that’s why I deep dive into every school board and community candidate to ensure our leadership matches those ideals. My dedication to this community’s future is deeply personal: My daughter was at Saugus High School the day of the shooting. She was shot, and she survived. Since that tragic day, I have worked in the school/community safety space , serving as the co-lead of our local Moms Demand Action chapter. I know firsthand what real prevention looks like, and I know the difference between a candidate who just says the right words and one who understands the work.

Julee Brooks is a district parent herself, with one child at Hart High and another entering middle school next year. Her deep understanding of school safety also comes from two decades of leading youth.

Her plan treats safety as a continuous effort. It focuses on fighting for the mental health funding needed to hire more on-campus therapists, social workers, and ensuring every student has timely access to a trained professional instead of a waitlist. Her strategy also prioritizes crucial partnerships with families, including honest, ongoing conversations about the safe storage of firearms at home, which can save lives. Furthermore, Julee is dedicated to fostering a true sense of belonging by strengthening the choir, clubs, sports, and arts programs that give students a reason to feel connected to their school.

Julee Brooks doesn’t just talk about safety; I believe she has the experience to deliver a safer district.
