Christina Burbano Jeffrey, a 50-year-old Canyon Country resident, was identified as the woman killed in a four-car collision in Canyon Country early Tuesday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Jeffrey was driving westbound on Soledad Canyon Road, toward Rainbow Glen Drive, where a white Honda CRV drove the opposite direction and collided head-on with multiple vehicles.
Witnesses at the scene, who declined to provide their names, stated that the suspect turned right on Rainbow Glen Drive onto Soledad Canyon Road, before accelerating. The suspect’s vehicle could be seen on the center divider for hours during the investigation.
“We got a call for service for a multi-vehicle trap crash. We have one person who was reported deceased to the scene,” Detective Charlie Upchurch, with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, said on the scene.
Deputies received the call at 12:13 p.m., according to Sgt. Mark Perkins with the SCV Sheriff’s Station.
Perkis stated that the investigation is still ongoing, as of Wednesday morning, and that the suspect was reported to have traveled eastbound on the westbound lane. Jeffrey was reported to have been in the third car the suspect collided with, according to Perkins.
There is still no information available about what prompted the driver to veer into oncoming traffic.
There is no additional information regarding the two individuals transported to the hospital. One person was transported in critical condition, while the other person was said to have been in unknown condition.
Deputies closed both sides of Soledad Canyon Road, near Rainbow Glen Road and Whites Canyon Road. The lanes were reopened at 5:10 p.m.
