In his letter (June 27), Jack Teoli states that “The overwhelming majority of voters say the government has a responsibility to provide health care to Americans.” And yet, The Signal’s own liberal columnist, Gary Horton, stated (June 17) that Americans are turning into “village idiots” … so there’s that to consider. You know, I could actually end this (and any) letter on that point alone, but I’ll continue.
Mr. Teoli advocates for the Public Option over Single Payer and then goes on to make hugely unfounded predictions on how Public Option could work here in the United States. He then makes the huge mistake of stating that the employees of the Public Option would be government employees. So, he essentially advocates for replacing higher costs (private) with gross inefficiency (public). Now why didn’t I think of that? But to sum this letter up, Mr. Teoli thinks he has miraculously solved the riddle that greater minds have grappled with unsuccessfully since before he was born (or before I was born).
May I suggest that both Mr. Teoli and his like-minded “comrade,” Andrew Taban, pack up and move to Canada. I’ve heard their public heath care system is the envy of the world. Why we don’t model ours after theirs is quite beyond me.
