To Larry Moore on “Birthright Citizenship” (letters, July 30), real Americans are a compassionate people.
Many of them are simple, naive and gullible, as well, but too many of them are so compassionate that they are not bothered by the abuse of our country’s good will just so long as they feel that they are helping those in “need” because they believe that’s what a real Christian would do (like cutting off your own nose to mend someone else’s face).
Forget about the “pearls before swine” thing. Sacrifice something you value on Earth (like the last dollar in your wallet) and God will reward you in heaven.
I’m pretty certain that Jack Crawford would agree with me on that point. Perhaps the two of you could meet up and discuss the matter.
