Re: Jack Teoli’s letter on the “Establishment Clause” (Aug. 25).

I am in 100% agreement that Muslim Sharia Law has no legs to stand on in this country — it simply doesn’t, and I find anyone speaking of such demented fantasies to be annoyingly boring, as in, “Get your head out of Fox News.”

That aside, Mr. Teoli introduced the concept of “Christian Sharia Law.” I like it, I like it, because the Republican Party is literally hamstrung by the ignorant, irrational, hostile and occasionally violent excesses of THAT religion as it is being applied (for instance) to abortion and the LGBTQ community, so damn Ronald Reagan for the dastardly deed of linking the Republican Party with the “Christian Coalition” — a blatant marriage of church and state.

Yeah, a Republican did that.

Anyway, here’s some suggested reading: “Terror In The Name Of God,” by Jessica Stern (Harper Collins, 2003).

All religions (with the possible exception of Buddhism) can be used as tools for peace or for violence, so I wouldn’t single out any one of them as being any better or worse than the other.

It’s the wild-eyed guy holding a “book” in one hand and a flaming torch in the other that I’d watch out for.
