The Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center is scheduled to open the doors of Bella Vida on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for an open house designed for older adults who want to see what the center offers without the crowds.
The event, which is free and open to the public, is part of the organization’s celebration of 50 years serving seniors across the Santa Clarita Valley, said a news release from the nonprofit center.
The center is normally closed on weekends, and that is exactly the point of this event, the release said. On a typical weekday, Bella Vida is full of classes, meals, and conversation, which can feel like a lot for a first-time visitor. The open house offers a calmer alternative: look around at your own pace, ask questions, and meet the people behind the programs before signing up for anything.
Visitors can take a guided tour of the building and talk one-on-one with staff about the center’s 12 programs and services, from activities and fitness to the support services that help seniors stay independent. Family members and caregivers are welcome to come along.
“Some of the seniors who would enjoy the center most are the ones who feel unsure about walking in the door,” Kevin MacDonald, CEO of the SCV Senior Center, said in the release. “This open house is for them. Come on a quiet Saturday morning, see the place, meet our team, and find the thing that fits you.”
Opened in 2019, Bella Vida is a 31,000-square-foot facility featuring a grand ballroom, fitness center, billiards room, dance hall, library, and a variety of activity rooms.
“Whether someone is looking for exercise, a new hobby, a good meal, or simply good company, there is something here for every senior,” the release said.
