It’s October and the girls’ tennis season is approaching its final month of regular season to play with the Foothill League title race neck and neck.
After Thursday’s matches, here are scores from around the Foothill League:
West Ranch 10, Golden Valley 8: Following a narrow home win over the Golden Valley Grizzlies on Thursday, the West Ranch Wildcats are winners of their last six overall games.
The Wildcats (6-1, 6-0), who wrapped up the first half of Foothill League unbeaten with a 6-0 record, are coming off their narrowest win all season over Golden Valley (7-3, 4-3).
With the win, the Wildcats remain in sole possession of first place in the girls’ tennis Foothill League standings and will look to continue their momentum on Tuesday at Castaic High School against the Coyotes at 3 p.m.
As for Golden Valley, the Grizzlies fell to 4-3 in Foothill League play and are losers of their last two games, both by a score of 10-8.
The Grizzlies will look to bounce back on Thursday at Golden Valley High School in a matchup against the Castaic Coyotes with first serve set for 3 p.m.
Saugus 10, Castaic 8: After a road win over Canyon on Monday, the Saugus Centurions followed up their performance with a narrow victory over the Coytes at Castaic High School on Thursday.
With the win, the Centurions (5-6, 2-5) recorded their second Foothill League game of the season and winners of their last three games.
The Centurions will look to build upon their momentum with a home matchup on Tuesday at Saugus High School against the Canyon Cowboys with first serve set for 3 p.m.
As for Castaic (9-5, 2-4), the loss dropped the Coyotes their fifth game of the season but remain below .500 with a 2-4 Foothill League record.
The Coyotes will look to bounce back on Tuesday at home at Castaic High School in a matchup against the West Ranch Wildcats with first serve set for 3 p.m.
Hart 18, Canyon 0: Following a road loss to West Ranch on Tuesday, the Hart Hawks bounced back with a home win on Thursday over the Canyon Cowboys.
With the win, the Hawks (7-6, 4-3) improved to above .500 in both overall and Foothill League play.
In the Foothill League play, the Hawks improved to 4-3 and will look to build upon their momentum on Tuesday at Hart High School against the Valencia Vikings at 3 p.m.
As for Canyon (6-10, 0-7), the Cowboys remained winless in Foothill League play and dropped their 10th game of the season.
The Cowboys will look to bounce back on Tuesday at Saugus High School against the Centurions with first serve set for 3 p.m.
