Semper surprise: Valencia Marine honored with garage makeover 

She made sure her husband was blindfolded. A family member had taken him to lunch earlier in the day on Saturday. Valencia resident Juan Lopez later said he had no idea what his wife was doing.  She opened the garage to their home, the blindfold was removed, and around 30 people greeted Lopez with the surprise. It wasn’t his birthday.

Members of the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce honored eight local veterans on Thursday evening at the SCV Senior Center for the chamber’s 14th annual Salute to Patriots event. 

Castaic Animal Care Center pairs vets with pets 

The Veterans Day Adoption event on Saturday at the Castaic Animal Shelter aimed to pair vets with pets.   According to center manager Paul Maradiaga, this was the first year they’d
