Live Oak Elementary is bringing back our traditional Harvest Festival & Horse Drop on Saturday October 8. Our school and district have been through tough times over the last few years, from financial deficit, declining enrollment, and loss of teaching jobs, we have seen it all.

We are a community that when faced with tough times we rally together and push through. In attempts to bring back positive moral, we are bringing back our annual Harvest Festival & Horse Drop for the school and community. This event is going to bring together the community, the teaching staff and most importantly our students.

We are also incorporating our initiative to bring Google Chromebooks & iPads to all of our students.  All of the funds made from this event will be put directly towards Chromebooks and iPads for our classrooms.

In the past we would hold a cow plop during the festival, but this year we are doing a horse drop. For those who don’t know, a horse drop is a fundraising event. There will be a designated area that will be marked and divided up into 300 bingo-like squares. One may purchase as many parcels as one would like (they are $10 a square) and each parcel has a correlating bingo-like square in the designated area. On the day of the event we will let a horse roam around inside the area.  When the horse “drops” (does its business) in a square, the person who has purchased the ticket belonging to that square, wins a prize. Prizes are $100, $150, & $200 and you do not need to be present to win.

We will also have food, games, prizes, a chili cook-off, and a silent auction. Our auction will house items like, a family Toppers dinner for four, a Sky High party package, Magic Mountain tickets, Disneyland Park Hopper tickets, and much more. We hope to see you there!
