Nalini Amin, newly elected President of Newcomers and Friends, received a Certificate of Recognition from California Assemblyman Dante Acosta at the July monthly luncheon meeting at Black Angus Restaurant with Patriotic Theme. Nalini leads the club from its 32nd year into its 33rd year.

Following the Patriotic Theme all members were dressed in red, white, and blue with Muriel Usselman dressed as Uncle Sam who won most Patriotic prize.

Newcomers and Friends is a social club open to all women in the Santa Clarita Valley who are new to the valley or would like to make new friends. With 198 members, they enjoy monthly luncheon meetings, trips, and activities including Book Clubs, Tea Ladies, MahJongg, Bunco, Mexican Train Dominoes, Rummikub, Couples Gormet, Explorer Day Trips, Bridge, Hand/Knee/Foot, and Water Aerobics. Any member can start a group of their interest.
Meetings are held the third Thursday of every month at local restaurants for prospective new members interested in learning about the club for fun with friends for life.
