The Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corp. recently received an Award of Excellence from the California Association for Local Economic Development.

The award was given in the programs category for the SCVEDC’s LiveWorkSCV.com job board, a free resource that matches local job opportunities with local-area talent.

The webpage was launched after the SCVEDC continuously heard feedback from local employers stating that it was difficult to find qualified, local candidates, as well as hearing from residents that they were tired of their long commute times.

Since then, the comprehensive job board has been unanimously supported by SCVEDC’s 50-seat board of directors as a program congruous to their mission of growing a diverse SCV and providing quality jobs.

“We are thrilled to receive this award in recognition of LiveWorkSCV.com,” SCVEDC President and CEO Holly Schroeder said in a prepared statement. “This resource provides a valuable service to both local companies and residents. The award offers validation that the work we are doing here in the Santa Clarita Valley in support of local businesses is being noticed and making an impact.”

CALED, which provides resources to economic development agencies across the state, is expected to recognize the SCVEDC at a formal award presentation during the CALED annual conference in Long Beach scheduled March 26.
