The Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry announced that its board of directors has approved an expansion of the board, creating new opportunities for community members to get involved in supporting the organization’s mission to alleviate hunger throughout the SCV.
The new board members will join as additions to the current 2026-28 board term, allowing community leaders to step in at a midway point and help support the pantry’s continued growth, programs and long-term planning through the remainder of the term, said a news release from the nonprofit organization based in Newhall.
“As the need for food assistance continues to grow, the SCV Food Pantry is seeking individuals who are passionate about service, committed to strengthening the local community, and interested in helping guide the organization into its next chapter,” the release said.
“The SCV Food Pantry has been a cornerstone of support for our community for more than 40 years, and our board plays a critical role in helping protect and advance that mission,” board President Andrew Taban said in the release. “As we continue through the current 2026-28 term, this expansion gives us an opportunity to welcome new voices, new perspectives and additional community leaders who are ready to help us expand our impact and continue serving those who need us most.”
“Our work is only possible because of the people who believe in this mission,” Executive Director Peter Warda said in the release. “Bringing new members onto the board during the current term allows us to build on the momentum already underway while adding the experience, passion, and community perspective needed to guide the pantry’s future. We are looking for people who are ready to lend their time, experience, and heart to help make sure no family goes hungry.”
